Just in time for Valentines Day! I thought it was a perfect time to share some of my top recommendations for couples trips both domestically and around the world! Whether it’s the cold weather you’re looking to escape from or you are looking to disconnect off the grid for a bit with your significant other, there is a trip for you.
As 2020 is already well on its way, here is a recap of a some epic escapes to take with your significant other this year.

South America: Peru
Imagine sipping on red wine and enjoying a deliciously “home cooked” meal while you hang cliffside in a glass ‘bubble’ with your sweetheart… Or maybe sleeping while hanging off a cliff is not your thing. What about sitting fireside at a boutique hotel in Cusco enjoying a traditional Pisco Sour and stunning views overlooking the city lights of Cusco just steps outside your stay? OR maybe you are feeling adventurous but dislike heights; strengthen your relationship in ways you never knew possible as you take on the Salkantay trek to 15,000 feet in elevation and finish off the hike taking in views of the majestical Machu Picchu from above.
Whatever it is, I bet you can ‘it’ during a vacation in Peru! Check out more details on what made our 8 days in Peru oh-so-perfect here.

Europe: Barcelona and Menorca Spain
Taking it from South America ‘across the pond’ to one of our most memorable European destinations together. Embark on a cultural exploration around the bustling and gorgeous city of Barcelona to sunbathing on the tiny island of Menorca; Spain is the perfect spot to escape with your significant other.
Let’s start with the foodies; take a food tour around Barcelona to truly appreciate the tastes of the city and learn first hand what a true ‘tapas’ experience is like. For the Spa lovers out there, check out Aire de Barcelona to completely check out and relax; complete with a red wine bath, hot oil massage and a warm salt ‘bath’ to finish it off.
Island lovers; you can experience Spain while enjoying Caribbean-like water on the island of Menorca while sipping on a traditional ‘Pomada’ gin cocktail at the cliff side bar Cova Dei Xoroi.
You can find more details on how to spend your time in Barcelona and Menorca here.

Europe: Iceland
Outdoors lovers and adventures seekers rejoice; Iceland is calling your name. A quick flight (in terms of international destinations) from the east coast; Iceland offers everything from snowmobiling on massive glaciers, chasing waterfalls on an island wide road trip, boating glacier side on turquoise blue waters , and sipping cold beers with silica masks in the warm and steamy Blue Lagoon. Need I say more?!

USA: California Highway 1 Road Trip

Not trying to pull out the passport?
My personal favorite domestic road trip is hands down the route down Highway 1 and Big Sur in California; from the beaches and city hustle of Los Angeles, to the breathtaking cliffs of Malibu. Where days are spent sipping on wine fireside on the ‘19th hole’ at Pebble Beach resort or hiking bayside in San Francisco.
It is hard to beat these road trip views (which I would highly recommend splurging on a convertible for the full effect). Go ahead and explore all that the beautiful west coast has to offer. After all, lots of car time, equals lots of quality time and time spent together is everything! ️
This was one of our very first big trips together when we first started dating back in 2016. For more Highway 1 California inspiration, check out our experience here.

USA: Arizona – Havasu Falls
Not the same views as California but just as wonderful; take an adventurous trip to Arizona. Once you find yourself in this beautiful southwestern state, get ready for 3 days of adventure, bonding, and captivating views as you hike into the Grand Canyon.
This is where you will truly experience living “off the grid” while camping out at the base of Havasu falls. There are no words to describe the beauty and the feeling of being one with nature when you camp by the 98 foot tall Havasu Falls and hike to the cascading emerald blue-green Mooney and Beaver Falls.
It’s truly a bucket list hike and 100% made better with your person by your side. All the details about our hiking and camping experience can be found here.

Mexico: Tulum
If you are looking to take it international but don’t want to deal with serious jet lag, jump on down to Mexico. Tulum Mexico can be reached quicker from the East Coast than flying to California.
Tulum is a laid-back, bohemian-inspired dreamy beach town. Whether it’s a solo trip, a trip with your girlfriends or (in the case of this post) with your significant other, a long weekend getaway to Tulum is hard to top.
Here you will find the freshest margaritas, beach front cabanas, colorful beach cruisers, breathtaking ruins, swimming hole ‘cenotes’, tacos (and more tacos) and TONS of mouthwatering, highly regarded restaurants to try out. I can pretty much guarantee you won’t leave here disappointed and most definitely will not be bored while you’re here!

Where to eat, play and stay in Tulum can be found here. OR if you are feeling more in a ‘Galentines’ mood, take off on this fun girlfriend’s getaway itinerary.

USA: Miami, Florida
OK last but not least….. Who else strongly dislikes cold weather ? (Me!) Maybe you just really want to escape the dreary winter months for some warmth, sunshine and sand between your toes but you need it to be a quick getaway.
Miami, Florida here you come! Direct flights are available from most major airports and as soon as you arrive it is time to soak in the sun, enjoy outstanding restaurants, pool parties, rooftop bars and clubs (if that’s your thing!)
Miami has something for everyone and is NOT just a place for clubbing and late nights so go ahead and escape to this ‘forever-summer’ destination. Only have 48-hours? Check our guide out here.

breakfast at Cecconis Rooftop bars in Miami
That’s a wrap! Time to book that next plane ticket with your loved one.
Happy Valentines Day!
