May 1, 2018; the beginning of my personal #saferbeauty movement
My “why” is pretty simple .. Over the past 4+ years, I have grown more and more interested in the world of health and wellness. I have become increasingly more conscientious of what I put in my body and my passion for living a healthy lifestyle has continued to grow.
I spend my free time trying out new delicious recipes, seeking out the best smoothie bowls in town, and attending the wide variety of boutique gym classes around Atlanta. From yoga to cycling to pilates … I love trying new workouts.
Another portion of my down time is spent reading through travel blogs, foodie blogs, and wellness sites (i.e. wellandgood and toneitup).
All this being said… I never put much thought into what I was putting ON my body… It wasn’t until I dug further into Beautycounter that I thought twice.
On average, I put 10+ products on my skin before I leave for work. This is all before 8:00 in the morning … followed by another 10+ after I work out, shower, and do my entire nighttime routine. Facial cleanser, daily face lotion, tinted moisturizer, concealer, bronzer, mascara, lipstick, eyeliner … oh and the body lotion that goes on 2x per day (!!!)
Never have I thought to look at the ingredients on the packaging.. and even if I did… would it mean anything to me? Not until now.
The facts can be scary. If I can make changes in my daily routine now and help my family and friends do the same, in order to avoid potential illnesses and complications later in life, than I will do whatever it takes.
( Fact – “On average, american women use 12 beauty products a day resulting in exposure to over 100 chemicals daily BEFORE they even leave the bathroom in the morning”)
I quickly became interested in the mission of Beautycounter and the goal to get safer beauty products into the hands of everyone.
Beautycounter is not concerned with its competitors .. because the end goal is all the same.. to get safe products, non-toxic chemical filled products, into the hands of everyone because this is what every single one of us deserves.
I am only at the beginning of this educational journey but I am so excited to learn more and help get safer products into the hands of my family & friends!
** Fun fact below ** WHY is it taking the US so long to ban these harmful ingredients from our cosmetics. On a positive note… the number on the right was 11 not too long ago. Companies like Beautycounter are making a difference!
